Tolerating Intolerance

 

Along with diversity, tolerance is a favorite buzzword of America’s liberal-leftists and, as with most things liberal-leftist, both words are hypocritically applied only to those ideas and situations which fit neatly into their belief systems, i.e., diversity must reflect what they think should be diverse and tolerance must not be extended to anything or anyone remotely conservative.

For example, while wholeheartedly endorsing diversity in our society, schools, courts, in virtually every human activity, especially when it comes to racial and sexual minorities, the mostly Democrat lib-left takes great umbrage when conservatives complain that the mainstream media are probably among the least politically diverse institutions on Earth.

Do as they say, not as they do.  As long as you’re sharing kumbaya moments, who needs forced diversity, one of the most divisive issues in America?

As for diversity’s kissing cousin, tolerance, that idea is abused even more frequently by our liberal-leftist friends .

Loosely defined as a willingness to accept differing feelings, habits, or beliefs in the interests of societal cohesion and concord, their interpretation of what tolerance means has devolved into its twisted opposite, intolerance, the refusal to tolerate contrary opinions and the supposed rejection of people of different races or backgrounds.

Instances of such hypocritical intolerance abound and are much too numerous to detail in this space but below are a few selected examples of how the lib-left has distorted the potentially-beneficial concept of tolerance into a pernicious propaganda disease, a disease for which they never offer a cure but rather try to make it an epidemic.

–According to The Morning Journal News, an Oberlin College professor of Oriental extraction is suing Oberlin–where students shell out $50,000 a year for the privilege of matriculating–alleging that a Muslim professor has been harassing her.

Prof. Eunjung An contends that Ali Yedes, has repeatedly and overtly discriminated against her and  other female employees in the French and Comparative Literature Departments and actually once told an employee that he brought his nephew to the U.S. on a student visa specifically to “stab and kill someone from his  department.”

Eight years after the harassment began, Associate Professor Yedes is still on the job and not a peep has been heard from ultra-tolerant liberal-leftist defenders of tolerance since, apparently, they don’t consider Orientals as worthy of attention as blacks and Latinos and certainly not when they’re threatened by an adherent to the Religion of Peace.

Dinesh D’Souza fits most of the criteria of Barack Hussein Obama’s favored and favorite people: an immigrant, a minority, a person of color.  However, D’Souza lacks a few essential elements for inclusion in the president’s exclusive club: He’s a Christian conservative and, worse, he’s not especially fond of Obama or what he is doing to our country.

In fact, D’Souza, a best-selling author and filmmaker, is even farther from being a liberal than most members of the small band of Hollywood conservatives so it was only a matter of time before Obama’s intolerant henchmen in Eric Holder’s Department of Justice went after him.

And, go after him they did, with a vengeance, by indicting him for alleged violations of campaign finance laws.

D’Souza’s alleged crime?  Donating $20,000 to the 2012 senatorial campaign of an old Dartmouth College friend, conservative Republican Wendy Long, who was challenging liberal Democrat New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.  He was charged with one count of making illegal campaign contributions, carrying a maximum sentence of two years in prison and one count of causing false statements to be made to the FEC, carrying a maximum of five years and released on $500,000 bond.

TheBlaze.com illustrated the exorbitance of that half-million dollar figure by posting a list of nine hardened criminals who had bail set for lesser amounts.

The list includes ex-convict Darnell Richmond who was charged with robbing or attempting to rob four people and raping one victim three months after he got out of prison, Barry Eltman charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly attacked a 15-year-old family member, and Jon Michael Jones who was being held on a charge of intentional child abuse and inflicting serious injury on his newborn infant. . . Okay, now listen up: I want all liberals, plus anyone else who is a Rino or a homosexual or pro-abortion or pro-guntrol control to get the hell out of New York–and don’t come back!

In somewhat less strident tones, the esteemed Democrat governor of the Empire State pretty much said that last Friday on the public radio show “Capitol Press Room” with Susan Arbetter–although he was not directing his intolerant venom against his fellow liberals, or Rinos or homosexuals, or pro-abortion or pro-gun control types.  He was spewing against conservatives, pro-traditional marriage, pro-lifers, and pro-Second Amendment supporters in New York State.

Well, to be more precise, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Democrat hopeful for the presidency in 2016, said to Ms. Arbetter: “I think what you’re seeing is, you have a schism within the Republican Party.  You have, the Republican Party is searching for an identity. They’re searching  to define their soul.”

Cuomo clarified his unsolicited, moralistic analysis of the GOP by asking, “Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party?  That’s what they’re trying to figure out. . . The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans.  It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans. . . and the moderate Republicans are afraid of  the extreme conservative Republicans in Washington, in my opinion.”

(And, in my opinion, and in the opinion of countless others, Andrew Cuomo is as much an ass as his father, the former governor of NYS and twice front-running candidate for the presidency Mario Cuomo, aka the hesitant “Hamlet on the Hudson,” who was twice forced to withdraw from the running due to his family’s Mafia connections.)

Mario’s eldest son Andrew went on to elaborate on his amateur psychoanalysis of the Republican Party: ”Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is  themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are?” before he frothily pulled out his Get Out of Dodge/New York Card: ”Because if that’s who they are and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the State of New York–because that’s not who New Yorkers are.” 

(And, in my opinion, the one-term, divorced governor who lives in the Executive Mansion and in Westchester County with his girlfriend, foodie Sandra Lee, is hardly in any position to pass moral judgments on anyone, least of all New Yorkers who cherish life and marital normality and the right to protect themselves and their families with legal weapons.)

The writing and the blogging and the videotaping on America’s wall seem to be indicating that our vacation-loving president is on the ropes and that his five-year campaign to transform our fundamentally middle of the road country into a pathetic replica of the defunct U.S.S.R. is falling like a leftist rock into a right wing ocean.
Ok, that simile limps just a tad but the evidence is still abundantly clear that President Barack Hussein Obama is in serious trouble, as is his Obamacare legacy, his misbegotten foreign policies, his personal popularity, his mainstream media support, and even public trust in his integrity.

One proof of the growing hysteria in the Obama camp is the Democratic National Committee’s Saturday evening email urging supporters to vote for Democrats in 2014 so that Republicans won’t be able to impeach their leader during the next Congress.

The shamelessly desperate email virtually begged those supporters to contribute to the DNC’s 2014 efforts and asked them to consider, “What do these people all have in common?”  The DNC then answered its own question by featuring quotes from various Republicans who are considering impeaching Obama for any number of his numerous instances of presidential misconduct and claimed, “Republicans are actually excited about the idea” of impeachment.

And, why wouldn’t they be “excited”?  After all, Obama did solemnly swear (or affirm) that he would ”faithfully execute the office of President of the United States” and would to the best of his “ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Whether the president’s actions and inactions rise to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors” will be determined by the House of Representatives and settled by the Senate but Bill Clinton’s lying under sacred oath pales in comparison to the litany of charges that could be brought against him.

A partial list: failure to execute laws (DOMA), tampering with existing law (Obamacare), exploding the national debt, using the IRS for political purposes, bowing and scraping to world leaders, accepting millions in illegal campaign contributions from foreigners, failing to secure our national borders, mocking the Constitution by firing the GM CEO, lying about Benghazi and the Fast and Furious gun-running operation, ignoring bankruptcy laws with GM bondholders and awarding the UAW with shares of GM and Chrysler stock, awarding the IMF greater control over our economy, violating the War Powers Act regarding Libya, alienating loyal allies, supporting Eric Holder’s racist applications of the law, and trashing the First Amendment’s guaranty of religious freedom.

Former Black Panther Party leader Larry Pinkney is also excited and wants the public to know Obama is a liar, a fraud, and not really America’s president.  Pinkney said just that in a recent interview on Carl Gallups’ program on WEBY radio where he unequivocably contended that Obama is a liar, a “fraud” and “not even the President” because he was nothing more than a “pawn” with a hidden political agenda aimed at separating people.

None of the above more fully substantiate the conservative resurgence and Barack Obama’s decline and fall than the rapid decline and fall of his diehard talk radio sycophants.
